BIRDWATCHING ON THE LAKE
The lake and surrounding bushland are home to all sorts of birdlife. Black Swan’s breed on the lake as do Pelicans and springtime is always a joy to see the baby cygnets appear. As well there are Sacred Kingfishers, Spoonbills, Blue Wrens, Great Egrets, Eagles, numerous parrots, Black Cockatoos, the outrageous Purple Swamp Hens and many more.
Egrets regularly hunt along the lakeside.
Whistling Kites patrol over the lake daily. There unmistakable cry will let you know when they are on the hunt.
This marauding bunch or Red-tailed black Cockatoos frequently come to lunch in the trees.
Otherwise know as Cinnamon breasted mountain ducks, they congregate in large numbers on the lake.
This colourful and comical bird has to be a relative of the cartoon road runner. They scamper about the place everyday.
